unable to launch C:DOKUMENTE~1BRITTA~1DESKTOPADOBEP~1,5TCW cwi.exe.
britta
Antwort von Stefan:
Hi britta
aus dem US Adobe Premiere Forum:
"That's TCWorks which was a shareware audio plug in. The trial time has expired and you should uninstall it, or buy it. It should be in you list of installed software."
"However, the same thing may apply if you had it installed in the past, and did not uninstall the TCWorks or remove it from the registry when you uninstalled Premiere before. You probably can do a custom install. I was able to install Premiere normally and remove TCWorks after that since I never used it. It's an audio program that allows you to access DirectX audio controls within Premiere."
"Same problem. Please report any problems / solutions with TCWorks filters to TCWorks using the following page tcworks.de> Tell them all about your system including audio cards, HDD space, RAM, processor speed, etc."
Viel Glück
Der dicke Stefan

Hi,
I found this message about tcwi.exe = -1 looking on Google; even though your forum is in German (I know it a little bit) I understood what was about and I'm sure you understand English so here is my experience with it:
One year ago somebody gave me a copy of Premiere 6.5 and I worked very well with it. Meanwhile I upgraded my computer and lost the installation. Now I needed it once again and trying to install it I encountered the same problem (tcwi.exe error - 1) during the installation; when starting Premiere, at loading ZigZag effect (shown in the window during the lunching) the system systematically was freezing. I tried several times, even on another computer and the same thing.
I looked in Google, found your forum and decided to go with a custom installation avoiding TCWorks, but the same result again - at ZigZag everything frozen (Ctrl-Del+Delete didn't work but thanks heaven I have a little German software installed named Kill Process - it really kills everything instantly - take it from the net somewhere it is really worth).
Exasperated I thought: what the heck, is the same machine that I had installed before the Premiere and now doesn't work ! But suddenly I realized that it wasn't quite correct: now I was using XP and before it was installed on Win 2000 Pro ... I was alywas hostile to XP and liked very much 2000, my technician convinced me to use it - but, prudent I kept on the other disk the 2000 too. And I tried the installation (always without TCWorks) on 2000 and it worked perfectly - no more frozen at ZigZag loading ...
I realized that XP is much more strict with softwares copies than 2000 ...
So for those that cannot afford the originals ones 2000 is much more appropriate to work with in spite of being more vulnerable to viruse/malwares; the solution would be to have both OSes, not to go on the net with 2000, use it just for internal works and use XP for net ...
I hope that my answer was a little bit useful; I was glad to find your answer here.
By the way, I like more and more German movies (they made a lot of progres lately) - "Big Girls don't cry", the movies with Franka Potente, The fatcow days sind vorbei (don't remember exactly the title but very good movie anyway), etc...
