Frage von curtis:Einen schönen guten Tag.
ich habe ein kleines Problem.
Ich habe wunderschönes Material von einer tollen Kamera, der Sony PDW 700. Hierbei handelt es sich um den neuesten Abkömmling der Sony HD Marktschwemme aus der XD Cam Familie.
Die Disks sind nach langem Hin und Her mittlerweile auf Platte überspielt mit Hilfe von Sony Vegas. Mit dem hauseigenen Tool PDZ1 funktionierte es nicht.
Nun würden wir das Ganze auch gerne schneiden.
Avid, alle Plattformen: Noch nicht möglich
Final Cut: dito
Sony Vegas: dito
Nach Info von Sony soll es noch mit Canopus gehen in der Broadcast Version 4.6. Aber die haben mir auch schon erzählt dass sich das mit Final Cut bearbeiten lässt. Dann noch das Mpeg Pro HD Plugin von Main Concept im Verbund mit Adobe Premiere.
Irgend jemand damit Erfahrungen?
Oder anders: Eine Idee mit Hilfe welchen Tools ich das Ganze einfach konvertieren kann um es ins Avid zu bekommen?

Schau dir mal bitte den MainConcept™ MPEG PRO™ HD an. Oder frag eine Kollegen mit Premiere, ob er dein Material smartcoden kann, dann damit nach AVID.
Wenn nicht, dann kauf Premiere, das kann dann auch DVCPRO HD

Selbst habe ich keine Erfahrung mit der PDW-700, aber wenn ihr das gute Stück mal für ein paar Tage entbehren könnt, lässt sich das ändern ;-)

Solange das Material noch nicht auf der Platte ist und mit anderem Tool importiert wurde - ja. So schlau sind wir jetzt glücklicherweise auch geworden.

bei AVID (MediaComposer) funktioniert XDCAMHD 422 ab Version 3.0 (seit ca. 3 Wochen erhältlich).
Obs auch geht wenns auf Festplatte ist weiss ich nicht.
Du schreibst "auf Platte überspielt mit Hilfe von Sony Vegas".
Was macht Vegas draus?
Wie heissen die Files jetzt (Dateiendung)?
Auf der Professional Disk ist von der Kamera eine Ordnerstruktur, ist die erhalten geblieben?
Wenn nicht, wirds in AVID wahrscheinlich nicht gehen, dann wirst du wohl die original-Disks benötigen....

Die ordnerstruktur, Metadaten und Proxys sind 1:1 erhalten geblieben. mxf files waren es nach dem Import.
Der Media Composer 3.0 kann XD Cam HD 4:2:2 aber definitiv nicht verarbeiten. Es sei denn es ist schon ein Update erhältlich, das wäre dann an mir vorbeigegangen.

Ich habe eine Demo von AVID gesehen (von AVID selbst), dort hat ein AVID Promoter gesagt, es wird zwar nicht offiziell gesagt, aber es funktioniert und hat mir auch Filmausschnitte von der PDW 700 in der Software gezeigt.....

Die mit dem PDZ 1 importierten Disks nimmt der Media Composer nicht. Die PDW 700 zum Import erkennt er ebenfalls nicht. Es kann durchaus sein dass es einen Umweg gibt über den man das Material mit dem 3.0er bearbeiten kann. Ich kenne ihn nicht und bei Support-Anfrage bekommt man dazu auch nichts bei Avid. (Was ja nicht verwundert, die könnten ja noch neben dem gandenlos überteuerten Mojo eine "XD Cam HD 4:2:2 - Import - Mojo" rausbringen - für den Schleuderpreis von nur 5.999,- € ;-)
Also nun denn - wie bekomm ich das Material denn in den Media Composer?

Einfach die voll funktionsfähige 30-Tages Version von Edius V4.6 bei Canopus/TGV downloaden. Folgende Formate kannst Du damit gleichzeitig verarbeiten:

Ansonsten würde sich empfehlen das Material nochmals per HDSDI einzuspielen...

Schon klar, aber um dieses Format geht es hier ja nicht, sondern um "XDCAM HD 422" mit höherer Datenrate. Davon ist in dem von dir verlinkten PDF jedoch keine Rede.

I did not use this software instead I chose to ingest the files from the PDW-700 via my NLE system – Grass Valley Edius Broadcast. V4.6 supports the new 50 Mbps format and also the new XDCAM HD EX1 format. I chose to connect via the network connection option. First I went into the camera menu and changed the IP address into the numeric range I knew my Netgear routers DCHP server would accept. After switching the camera off and back on again and after connecting a CAT 5 cable, connecting via Edius - it worked first time. Within seconds of the disc spinning up, all the thumbnail clip images came up on the screen. Within Edius, I chose to download both Proxy files and Hi-Res files. After selecting the clips I wanted (Ctrl + A for all of them) and clicking "Register to Bin", all the clips appeared in my Edius project bin, which I then dragged to the timeline and could start editing. The clever thing is that the low res proxy files clips transfer so quickly and you can start editing immediately whilst the Hi-Res files download in the background. The moment each Hi-Res file is 100% downloaded, the timeline clip automatically updates and displays at full resolution with 4 channel audio. The clips in the BIN and timeline display with a "P" symbol when they are still proxies and a red "H" with progress indicator marks the current clip which is being downloaded in Hi-Res. Clips which are already downloaded at full resolution are displayed without the "P" symbol. I found in practice that I could start working and scrubbing immediately with the full resolution clips already downloaded at the beginning of the timeline. I could work my way along the timeline with the clips further up the timeline downloading away in the background before I got to them - unless I went at great speed and caught up with the proxy files. I found transfer times to be around half real time, therefore an hour of footage took around 30 minutes to ingest. The only issue with editing in native XDCAM HD, as is the case with all long GOP codecs is the hit that the extra processing has on the computer CPU decompressing the GOP sequence into individually editable frames, which has a knock on effect to the real time performance of CPU based filters and effects. Edius solves this issue by offering the facility to convert the XDCAM HD clips in the project bin to their own frame based HD codec - Canopus HQ. Compatibility with NLE systems is something that will need to be checked. At the moment, Edius is one of few editing packages that currently support the 50 Mbps XDCAM HD format.
