We're constantly working to improve our tools for you. And to give you the best creative and collaborative experience, we need to focus on our main products. This means that starting January 30, 2024, Capture One Express will no longer be available.
You’ll be able to use Express until January 30, and all your images and edits will also be available until this date.
Starting January 30, you won’t be able to download or use Express from our website. Also, you can’t activate any Express license keys after January 30, even though you downloaded the license key before this date.
We’ll end all support for Express after January 30.

Es sieht so aus, dass nach Filmic auch Capture One sich aus dem Markt nehmen wird:

Insbesondere die Taktik, dass selbst eine Kaufversion gegenüber der Abo-Version benachteiligt werden soll, ist ein Grund, sich nach Alternativen umzusehen.

Ich nutze ja schon lange Capture One (nicht die Express-Version) und im Grunde ist das auch schon lange so eine Art Abo, denn neue Kameras werden auch immer nur in den neuen Versionen unterstützt. Das heißt, spätestens wenn man sich eine neue Kamera zulegt, braucht es auch wieder die neue Version. Am Ende des Tages ist das genauso teuer wie ein Abo, selbst wenn man nur alle paar Jahre die Software wieder kauft. Und auch neue Features (wie z.B. die frame.io Integration) gibt es nur in der neuen Version. Es wird also immer Gründe geben, fast jedes Jahr Upgraden zu müssen, bzw. es alle paar Jahre neu zu kaufen. Preislich nimmt sich das jedenfalls wenig.
