Wie Michael Lehmann Horn von der NAB berichtet, zeigt GrassValley dort die Beta-Version eines Plugins für Edius 5.1, das den Einsatz von After Effects-Plugins ermöglicht. Hiermit ließ sich das Schnittprogramm um zahlreiche Effekte erweitern, die man sonst nur aus dem Compositing-Bereich kennt. Dass dabei sicherlich Einschränkungen gemacht werden müssen ist klar, denn Edius als Host unterstützt ja nicht das gesamte Feature-Set von After Effects. Dennoch eine spannende Entwicklung. Die Betaversion der Plug-in Bridge soll zusammen mit EDIUS 5.1 bereits Anfang Mai als kostenloser Download über die Canopus-Webseite downloadbar sein.

Ich fand es bis jetzt immer sehr nervig das jeder sagte es gibt eine Beta aber keiner weiß wo, deswegen hab ich mich jetzt bei Edius regestriert unter:

und die Beta Runtergeladen. Angeblich läufts Störungsfrei.
Ich werds später auch selbst testen.

While the plug-in bridge will attempt to use any installed third-party plug-in, please take note of the following information:

Filters that do not show in effect palette

* Synthetic Apperture Color Finesse (included in After Effects)
* Trapcode EchoSpace
* RE:Vision Effects PV Feather



Shows up in effect palette, but most filters do not work

* Cycore FX (included in After Effects)
* Trapcode Particular

* Trapcode Form
* Trapcode Lux
* Trapcode Soundkeys
* Trapcode EchoSpace
* RE:Vision Effects DE:Noise for AE
* RE:Vision Effects RE:Map

Filters with known problems

* Dfx Digital Filter Suite (Issues when used in Windows Vista)
* FinalEffects Complete (Starting EDIUS will be very slow)
* Knoll Light Factory 2 (Closing EDIUS will be very slow)
* Red Giant Film Fix 1.0 (CPU usage is high while using this plug-in)



Filter types not supported
These types of filters are not supported with the current plug-in bridge

* Filters that use After Effects mask and path
* Filters that use input sources from other layers
* Filters that import files from outside
* Filters that move time base
* Filters that require pre-filtering process (example: motion-tracking)
* Filters that require a custom GUI

Instructions:

Please ensure that you have installed EDIUS v5.10 on your system.

1. Download the file AE_FilterBridge_v510beta.zip
2. Create a folder on the root directory of the system drive called C:\DLfiles\
3. Unzip the AE_FilterBridge_v510beta.zip file to the C:\DLfiles\ folder
4. Install the plug-in bridge by running the file SetupAfterEffectsFilterBridge.exe



To register a filter:

1. Install the third-party filter to your system
2. Start EDIUS
3. From the Settings menu, choose Plug-in settings...
4. Click AfterEffectsFilter. The AfterEffectsFilter Manager will appear on the right
5. Click Add, and select the filter to register
6. Click OK to close the window, click apply, and then click OK
7. Close EDIUS, and reopen EDIUS again



Third-party filters can be accessed from within the newly created AfterEffectsFilter line item in the EDIUS Effects Palette.

Registered owners of EDIUS v5.x can access this release via the EDIUS 5.x Product-related Downloads section at http://desktop.grassvalley.com, under 'Utilities.'
