QUESTIONNAIRE

How would you describe the aesthetics of your film?
I would like to think of it as "painterly", since my conscious references are always towards the photographic and painting traditions.

Why did you choose to shoot on dv?
Principally financial of course, but then it's also the most aesthetically pleasing and controllable of the current video mediums.

What was special about shooting in dv (e.g.compared to 35mm, was it your first time with dv or are you used to it)?
I've been using Dv for some years, and i like the quality of the 'noise' that's achieved when you raise the gain levels, it's very beautiful

What was your shoot-edit ratio?
Very low, perhaps 9 hours to 45 minutes.

Would you have preferred to shoot in another format? If so which?
I've been using the Panasonic 24p (25p in PAL). The quality of the image is extraordinary, black density and color saturation and the subtle 'feel' of the light in the image can be stunning. The best so far on the road to the electronic duplication of the beauty of film.

Does using dv mean that you are considering other means of distribution opposing the established? If so which?
