Todd Verows Film erzählt von zwei Männern, die sich gegenseitig das Herz gebrochen haben, und von den Folgen, die das für einen von ihnen hat – von anonymem Sex, der Jagd nach verloren gegangenen Träumen und davon, was eine schwule Beziehung ausmacht. QUESTIONNAIRE How would you describe the aesthetics of your film? I would say this film is voyeuristic. Yes, it is very sexual but it is more voyeuristic in that you are seeing someone stripped bare emotionally. Why did you choose to shoot on dv? I wanted the movie to feel like a documentary, like it was shot with surveillance cameras. There is an intimacy and immediateness to video that was important for this story. What was special about shooting in dv (e.g. compared to 35mm, was it your first time with dv or are you used to it)? I have made 11 features with DV. What I love about it is how you can see what you are shooting as you shoot it. I like the practicality of it, how you can shoot in sequence and shoot lots and lots of takes of things. What was your shoot-edit ratio? The thing I love about shooting in video is that you can shoot a lot and not worry so much about the cost so my shooting ratio is high. I usually shoot about 40 hours of tape for a feature. Would you have preferred to shoot in another format? If so which? I am interested in all formats. I would like to try shooting things in HDTV and in 35mm film, or even VHS I think might be interesting. Actually I have a cellphone now that shoots video and I am going to make a feature with that. Does using dv mean that you are considering other means of distribution opposing the established? If so which? Distribution is hard no matter what format you use. I am open to everything, we do theatrical sometimes, we tour with the movies, we put them on video and DVD. Whatever and wherever we can show our movies we are open to it.
