INTERVIEW

How would you describe the aesthetics of your film?
For the interviews it had to be: Black background and with no "artifacts" around the person that was interviewed because of the subject.
For the outdoors it was shot with no rehearsals live on the spot. The director, Shiri Tsur wanted to get the first and authentic reaction to be as "real" as possible.

Which digital format did you choose to shoot on, and why (was it solely for financial reasons, or did aesthetics play a role)?
We shot in DVCAM only for financial reasons

What was special about shooting on DV (e.g. compared to 35mm, was it your first time with dv or are you used to it ..)?
The advantage was a small crew and it was very flexible in terms of moving from one location to the other.

What was your shoot-edit ratio?
About 80 hours of rushes for a final length of 63min

Looking back: Would you have preferred to shoot in another format? If so which?
Video was the right format for this film, if we had more money it would have been shot on Digibeta for better quality.

One good word about dv (or two):
Cost!

One bad word about dv (or two):
Quality!
