Ein junger Mann, der die Rentabilität einer Fabrik in der Provinz prüfen soll, findet eine desorganisierte Situation vor. Da der Fabrikdirektor in der Nacht zuvor bei einem Unfall ums Leben gekommen ist, übernehmen seine Witwe und deren Bruder nun die Geschäfte. Schon bald stellt sich eine starke Anziehung ein zwischen dem Neuankömmling und der wesentlich älteren Frau. Die Frau zerbricht daran. Auch mit der Fabrik geht es bergab.
Die Zeichen sind von Anfang an unübersehbar. Doch die Tragödie kommt erst allmählich in vollem Ausmaß ans Licht. Die Tragödie von Ödipus, der unabsichtlich und unwissend seinen Vater tötet und seine Mutter heiratet. Die Tragödie der Opfer der argentinischen Militärdiktatur, die entführt, in Geheimgefängnissen inhaftiert und von ihren Kindern getrennt wurden. How would you describe the aesthetics of your film?
We shot inside a factory with real workers but we didn’t want to reproduce reality as it looks like.
We created a distance from real images using long telephoto lens for every shot, background always appears as a changing surface. We established the use of the same concept for the other locations taking part in the film.

Why did you choose Red over other HD formats and analogue film?
We found that Red was the digital format that fits perfectly well to this kind of aesthetics.

What was special about shooting with Red (e.g. compared to 35-mm or
other digital formats)? Was it your first time with Red / digital or are
you used to it?
It is my third time with a digital format, I like it because I can shoot long takes, that makes it special for me.

What was your shoot-edit ratio?
I recorded 13 hours and edited 80 minutes.

Why did you transfer the film to 35mm?
Because it is still a legal condition if you want to release a film in my country.
And there are more reasons if you want to commercialize the film or screen it in festivals around the world.

It is difficult to control high lights.
