Aha ....
You cannot use Veo2 in Europe due to regional restrictions imposed by Google. These restrictions are related to the European Union's regulations on artificial intelligence.
The EU AI Act, which entered into force on August 1, 2024, has significant implications for Veo2 in Europe
Impact on Veo2 Availability:
Risk Classification: Veo2 is classified as a high-risk AI system due to its potential impact on individuals' lives. This classification subjects it to stringent regulations and compliance requirements.
Compliance Timeline: If Veo2 was deployed after August 1, 2024, it must comply with all regulatory requirements by August 2, 2026. If it was in operation before that date, it has until August 2, 2028, to achieve full compliance.
Provider Obligations: As a provider of an AI system, Google (Veo2's creator) must fulfill various requirements, including conducting conformity assessments, implementing risk management systems, and ensuring data quality.
Extraterritorial Application: Even though Google is a US-based company, the AI Act applies to providers located outside the EU if their AI systems are used within the EU.
Potential Fines: Non-compliance with the AI Act can result in significant fines of up to €35 million or 7% of annual turnover.
Google is taking a cautious approach to avoid potential legal and financial risks associated with non-compliance.
