"For RED cameras, FCPX still needs a plugin for R3D files. RED is very excited for these new machines, and is working on getting their code running on Metal (Apple’s API for hardware-accelerated graphics), and hopefully releasing their plugin around September.
As such, while fxguide was able to edit, grade and play with stunning RED shot 8K footage after the Keynote, it was all transcoded to ProRes.

Klingt so, als hatte RED die notwendige Anpassung an Metal noch fertig für die Keynote, die kommt dann später für "proxy free R3D" - wenn man den MacPro kaufen kann.

Geil, wäre ja auch nice für alle andern Geräte, schnelles debayering und encoding von Red Material, viell gibts dann mal n full debayered playback...
Bis 7K geht das schon auf einem iMac Pro. Aber wenn dann Metal mit CUDA auf Augenhöhe läuft, wird das noch viel mehr Spaß machen.
