Hi,

In my short experience with Prores Raw, monitoring the signal is really the most problematic part. Wafeform cannot be trusted. First of all, nobody talks that ISO in recording linear raw is completely different to ISO in log. In exposure tests I established that in fact you have to shoot at the base ISO 100 and rate the camera at around ISO 640 for correct exposure (18% grey). However, waveform in "native", pq, hlg modes show the picture too dark compared to how it really is. So really a solution is needed so that we could monitor on Ninja V correctly... However, in post things are quite nice if you use Assimilate Scratch - I easily converted files to Arri log c exporting to prores 4444. After that Arri log c to rec 709 LUT works almost perfectly, with little additional tweak needed to get a very "Alexa like" picture.

Vielen Dank für's Testen! :)

Hi Gedo,

thx für your comment and for sharing the Scratch tip. Sounds interesting. Looking forward to testing that with more time at hand.

I agree that monitoring at the moment is kind of a gamble. Hopefully we will see more consistent monitoring options with the Ninja V for ProRes Raw in future updates ...

Cheers
